Sharp rocks and quiet rain mingle before the lake and distant mountains.
Heavy rain in mid-March drives humans inside to their noise and colorful distractions. But out near the water, the only sound is softly falling rain. It drenches the rocks, running down their faces and pooling in their crevices, and hisses into the water. Waves barely ripple up onto the rocky shore. Mist collects in the peaks across the lake. And in solitude like this ten million years may pass, until the lake is gone and the rocks are sand; and the peace will be unchanged.
