The Tetons, kings of American peaks, greet the dawn.

I first approached the Tetons as a teenager, enjoying the Teton Crest Trail from Idaho to Wyoming and later Table Rock, immediately to the northwest of the Grand. At the time I described the Teton Peaks as “the Hallelujah Chorus in stone”. (Yes, I was a literary youth.) This large-scale drawing seems appropriate for such a gathering of majesties, and was great entertainment to do as well. Standing before it, one seems there in the cold wind of dawn, breathing the same mountain air as the elk, the river, the clouds, and m’lords.

Wyoming's Teton Range is only 14 miles from north to south, but is the only range in America to earn its own national park. In this portrait I pay my homage to the Tetons in their snowy, early-spring glory with the largest drawing I'm currently able to make: 4 feet by 8 feet—32 square feet of graphite art.
