Dark stones and a bright sky are reflected in a rippling summer lake.
Late summer clouds pile silently in the quivering waters of a mountain lake, while dark rocks from a talus slope absorb and reflect the quiet light. This same small lake is featured in at least one of my other drawings, though I can’t recall right offhand which one. I loved how the light played around with the different surfaces. The name comes from the stirring state motto of Kansas,"Ad Astera per Aspera” (through difficulties to the stars), which is a great motto! But this means something slightly different.
