Wild shrubbery quivers in the summer breeze at the base of a sturdy aspen, while its relatives relax in the shadows.
I was on a hike with my family in the hot, arid mountains of Utah. (This was the same trip where I discovered I was red/green colorblind—everyone else stopped to enthusiastically eat bright red berries off of bright green bushes, and I couldn't see the berries.) Amid a grove of aspens, these tiny shrubs clustered in the shade. The dappled light looked so pretty on the leaves, stretching up to meet it, that it merited an attempt to capture in a drawing.
