Portrait of Doug Fluckiger Doug Fluckiger has been drawing since he could hold a pencil. He majored in art at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, studying under renowned wildlife and portrait artist Leon Parson.

Doug graduated cum laude from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, in 1996. Following work as a designer in the Chicago area, he returned with his family to Idaho, settling in the Sandpoint area. He is currently employed as a graphic designer and, in 2003, returned to a serious study of nature in graphite.
Doug's work explores the robust and intimate interplay of light in nature. He does frequent field research with camera in hand, returning to his studio to further develop raw imagery through digital manipulation and combination with his extensive archive of natural imagery. Through continued exploration both of the vast visual resource that is the Pacific Northwest, and expansion of his own techniques, Doug continues to push the boundaries of the expected and the possible in the undiscovered country of graphite imagery.

"Beauty and serenity are what draw so many of us to the outdoors. That is what my work seeks to evoke."
